New admits to the ICU/Rescue Center

DONLEY

He is 21 months old and weighs 18 pounds (currently 16 after his edema is down).  He was admitted with kwashiorkor, malaria, cough and fever.  He failed the appetite test given for medika mamba and was admitted into the inpatient program.  He has 1 living sibling at home.  The family lives in a 1 room home made of cinder block, cement and tin.  They do not have running water at their home, or a flush toilet, not even an outhouse. They get their water from a source that is about a 5 minute walk from their home.   His mama buys items in bulk and resells them to make a profit, and his papa builds houses. The day he was admitted he had nothing to eat and the day before he had bean sauce and rice.  His mama thinks he is sick because he does not have enough blood in his body.  The families average monthly income is around $67US.  They traveled for about 30 minutes by motorcycle to arrive at the clinic.  He was started on the F-75 therapeutic milk and then graduated to the medika mamba program.

MIRLANDE

She is 25 years old and weighs 62 pounds.  She has TB and has been sick for sometime. She has 5 month old twins that are healthy and well and are being cared for by her mother.  She was referred to an inpatient care facility but had no one to care for her.  If her mother stayed with her the twins would have no one to care for them.  She lives in a 2 room home made of cinder bock, cement and tin.  She does not have running water at her home, or a flush toilet, but does have an outhouse.  They family buys their water from a vendor near their home. We are working along side her doctor to provide the needed care she needs to recover and live.
