New children admitted this month

DELSON

He is 2 1 1/2 years old and weighs 15 pounds.  He came to us through  Bread to the Nations.  His older sister had a severe case of kwashiorkor and died on the way to a hospital a few days before he was admitted.  The family of 4 lives in a 1 room home made of rocks and tin.  They have a piped water source that is about a 10 minute walk from their home.  They do not have running water at their home, or a flush toilet, not even an outhouse.   Delson’s papa is a farmer and grows bananas in his fields.  His mama buys in bulk and resells items for a profit.  The family brings in a little over 100US per month as income.   Delson has been sick for several weeks but just started showing signs of kwashiorkor about 4 days before he was admitted.     The parents are not really sure why either on of their children have developed malnutrition and kwashiorkor.   Delson was started on the F-75 therapeutic milk and then graduated to the medika mamba program.
