New admits

JACKSON

He is 2 1/2 years old and weighs 28 pounds (since this pic he has lost 8 pounds of water weight).  He was referred to us by Children’s Health Ministries.  The family of 5 lives in a tent.  They get their water from a piped water system that is right next to where they live.  Jackson’s papa worked on vehicles and his mama buys items in bulk and resells them for a profit.  The day he was admitted he had a bowl of soup to eat and the day before a plate of rice.  The families average monthly income is $67US.  It took them about 5 hours to travel to the clinic by tap-tap to arrive at the clinic.  He was started on the F-75 milk and then graduated to the medika mamba program.

She is 4 years old and weighs 25 pounds.  Her mama and papa are both farmers and grow beans, corns and pumpkins in their gardens.  She has 2 other sisters at home and no brothers.  The family lives in a 2 room home made of rocks, tin and clay.  They do not have running water at their home and walk to a source that is a  2 HOURS walk one way.  They do not have a flush toilet at their home or even an outhouse.  Kattialine has been sick for about about a month with swelling due to the kwashiorkor.  In the past week she ate meat once, rice 3 times and had a mango each day.  The day she was admitted she has a plate of rice to eat.  The families average monthly income is $67US.  They made the 5 hours trip to the clinic by foot.   She was started on the F-75 milk and then graduated to the medika mamba program.
