His mama traveled 3 hours by motorcycle and taxi to arrive at the clinic.  He was started on the F-75 therapeutic milk and then graduated to the medika mamba program.

JONISE

She is 6 months old and weighs 11 pounds.  She has 2 living siblings and 1 that has died of kwashiorkor.  Her parents got into a fight last month.  When the mama got up in the morning the papa had left with Jonise.  She asked around and tried to find out if anyone knew where they were at.  After about a month she was able to locate them.  The papa beat her up and bit her in several places but she left with Jonise.  Jonise had not been breastfeed for a month and was showing signs of kwashiorkor.  Her mama asked us to keep her in our inpatient program so that they could both heal.  The mama and papa are both farmers and grow beans, corn and bananas in their gardens.  The mama lives in a 1 room home made of sticks, mud and tin.  They get their water from a ditch that is about a 15 minute walk from their home. She travels about 2 hours by foot to arrive at the clinic.  Jonise was started on the F-75 therapeutic milk and then graduated to the medika mamba program.
