AP reporter Jonathan Katz (@KatzOnEarth) chronicles the emotional, psychological, and physical struggles of a Haitian man named Aliodor has faced since the Earthquake.
Here is his excellent article.
It is a sad state of affairs, that nearly one year after the quake, solutions still seem so terribly far away for so many still residing under tarps and tents.
January is setting out to be a challenging month for Haiti. Political instability remains as runoff elections loom. The 12th of January will mark the one year anniversary of the earthquake that devastated so many lives and crippled even further a nation that was already suffering.
I want to challenge you to commit to pray for the Haitian people daily during the month of January.
The eyes of the world were directed towards Haiti during the immediate aftermath of the earthquake. It was intense.
In the lives of many Haitians, the intensity of the pain and the peril has not subsided. Unspeakable anguish that gripped the hearts of so many as buildings crumbled around them has not become any more bearable.
While the cement dust has settled, the dust of a crushed morale and frayed nerves still hang in the air.
For far too many Haitians, it is still difficult to breathe.
