We were doing some deep cleaning this week and came across a folder that was from my mom. She was always clipping and saving little saying and poems that she liked. I hope over the weeks to come we can share some of these with you. We are aware that so many of you did not get the blessing of meeting my mom. She was a pillar of strength to our family. Her love for people was felt throughout Haiti and the USA. We are missing her deeply. We continue to press forward and do so many days with her in mind. We love you mom and miss you so much!
Here is a prayer that she had in the folder:
O Lord, make me the instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love:
Where there in injury, pardon;
Where there is discord, union;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy;
O Lord, grant that we seek
Not to be consoled, but to console;
Not to be understood, but to understand;
not to be loved, but to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
In forgetting that we find ourselves,
In pardoning that we are pardoned,
And in dying that we are born to eternal life.

We are in the beginning stages of preparing a trip to the US for the Betor family. We are looking towards the middle, end of March. We are planning to stay for a month. We are in need of a few things to make this trip happen. We are in need of housing for 2 adults and 4 beautiful kids ages 13 to 5 months. We are planning to stay for a month. We are also looking for a vehicle. We are at this time planning to stay in the Anderson/Noblesville area. Someone has already checked with the Church of God in Anderson about their housing but you have to be a part of them to stay there. Any help anyone could offer we would greatly appreciate. We are so excited to be able to travel together as a family for the first time. But we need to get some details worked out first. Anyone in the Anderson area know of prices of Hotels by the weeks as well. Just a thought. Please email me at licia@realhopeforhaiti.org if you can help in anyway.

January 13, 2011 at 11:47 amLicia,
I am a friend of Mary Davis’s! Her and my daughter Lauren are wonderful friends and now roommates at Samford. We live in Indianapolis on the north side and I would LOVE to help you while you are here in any way I can! I have a pack n play, booster seats for the car and table, toys, and a lot of other things that I could loan you while you are here. I will think and put the word out about housing and a vehicle for you.
Please contact me and let me know how I can help you!
Love,
Kris Schneider

January 13, 2011 at 1:59 pmThat is called the Prayer of St Francis. And it sure is representative of your whole family as they spread love, faith, light and healing to the people of Haiti. I live in Canada so I can’t help with accomodations but I hope you have a wonderful time.

January 13, 2011 at 3:30 pmMaybe someone in Indiana wants to trade your “digs” for theirs for one month!!
How about an apartment that isn’t already rented for the month? Just thinking out loud.
Hope you find what you are looking for.

January 19, 2011 at 10:12 pmWish I could offer a place to stay with us in Anderson, but alas, not even one extra bed here. But I’ll be sure to spread the word – I have friends in Noblesville, too!
I happen to be part of South Meridian ChoG here…I must say that it makes me sad that they wouldn’t extend housing help to others “outside” of the ChoG…I thought we were “non-denominational.”
