Medika Mamba updates :)

These past few months we have been seeing lots of malnourished children.  We see two main forms of malnutrition , marasmus and kwashiorkor.  Both of these forms of malnutrition can be treated with medika mamba translated as “peanut butter medicine”.  Medika mamba is made from peanuts grown right here in Haiti.  It is produced here in Haiti by Meds & Food for Kids.

There are some special people that I want to thank for helping us out with this project.  Did you know in 2008 we wanted to get this project started and just did not have enough time in the day to begin the process and figure out how to start, or the funds.  World Wide Village took on this project for us along with the Livesay family.  Tara ran a marathon  and raised funds that will supply this project for years.  That is what I love~when missionaries come together to help the most helpless people here-these little babies that are so sick.  As the kids are getting better and recovering, if you were a little fly on the wall, you would hear me tell them the story of how and why we have this live saving mamba for them.  To tell you the truth most of them laugh that a blanc would just run and people would donate funds for them to live. 🙂

I will never forget the day that Randy and Pat, from World Wide Village, came for a visit to tell me they wanted to get this project started. As they were pulling out the driveway it was already beginning to rain and they had no idea that in a few hours the whole village would be flooded and the road washed out in 2 places.  I will never forget all the time and effort that Troy and especially Tara, have put in for these kids.  I think all of us, WWV, T&T and RHFH want to especially thank those of you that have and are still giving for this project.  I know these pictures are just a small way that the kids and all of us can show you how much this project means to us.   I love to hear them laugh and see the  joy on the kids faces when they hear that so many of you care about them.  This is not a small thing.  These kids recovering is HUGE.  I have some very hard days here.  Some kids do not make it, some suffer for so long.  Some are so abused and neglected.  But today we celebrate these victories below that have made it.  But most of all we want all the glory and praise to go to Him.  Because without our Heavenly Father where would we all be?

    Hi,
This is a wonderful job you are doing. I’m working with destitute children. Tell me how can I help. By looking at these pictures, the before and after. I feel love. Putting a smile on the face of a child, it is really wonderful
keep up with the good work.

    God blessed
