New admits to the Rescue Center

Much love and thanks to Lori and Charlie and the staff for doing such a great job while I took some time off in the states.  It has been awhile since I have had the time to post new children admitted to the RC.  I am going to restart and do my best to keep you up to date.  We currently have 30 individuals, families, and churches that have committed to sponsoring a child each month.  This is HUGE!!!  We are so thankful to each of you.   We would love to have about 50 more sponsors 🙂  You can find more information about sponsoring a child here.  The cost is $125.00 per month.  God has given us a unique way to be able to minister to these children and their families.

 BETTIE

She is 18 months old and weighed 20 pounds when she was admitted.  She was very swollen and retaining fluid due to her severe malnutrition and kwashiorkor.  Bettie has 3 other siblings at home.  She was put on  the medika mamba program right away and has already lost 5 pounds. She will soon get to her lowest weight (when she losses all the fluids) and then she will begin to gain weight.

                      ~20 pounds~                                                   currently   ~15 pounds~

  CHISMIE

She is 2 years and 4 months old and weighs 19 pounds 10 ounces.  She is also suffering from kwashiorkor and has been fighting off lots of infections.  She has no other siblings and this is her first time with kwashiorkor.  She is beginning to lose some of her “water weight”  which is good but she is very weak and still a very sick little girl. Chismie is currently on the medika mamba program.

  PIERRE RAME

He is 4 1/2 years old and his beginning weight was 31 pounds.  As you can see he has a severe case of kwashiorkor.  Pierre Rame has 4 other siblings at home.  He was in a lot of pain when admitted and his legs were leaking lots of fluid.

Pierre Rame loves meat so we have been feeding him meat along with medika mamba.  He currently has lost 11 pounds of fluid since being admitted.  He still has a ways to go before he has lost all of his “water weight”.  He is a very sad little boy that seems to have lost his will to live.  We are praying that he makes it.

 NERLINE

She is 2 1/2 years old and weighs 21 pounds.  She has one living sibling at home.  This is her first time with kwashiorkor. She is currently on the medika mamba program.

 WILNER

He was brought to us by some fellow missionary here in Haiti.  His mama is very sick and they are ministering to her while Wilner is with us.  Wilner is estimated at 14 months old and weighs 10 pounds.  He has many siblings and has had 2 died already from kwashiorkor.  He is a very fragile little guy.

Wilner has currently gained 2 pounds but is still on IV fluids and an feeding tube. He is receiving life saving medika mamba through his feeding tube.

 Recent deaths~

 MICENA

She was admitted at 11 pounds and was 15 months old.  She was HIV positive and only lived a few days.

 BEN JERRY

His mama died when he was only 8 days old in a motorcycle accident.  His aunt has been giving him watered down milk and baby food.  It has not been enough for him.  He is not a chubby little baby but is suffered from a severe case of kwashiorkor. He could not even open his little eyes as they were so swollen. He only lived for a few days.

WILSON

Wilson came last week with a hemoglobin of 1.4.  His family refused to take him into a hospital.  They said we could keep him or they were taking him home to die.  They had no hope that he would live.  He has 3 living siblings at home and 2 that have died of kwashiorkor.  He was 11 months old and weighed 11 pounds.  Loved that little guy.

We currently have around 80 children in the RC.  There are 15 kids on the list to return home soon.  Each day we are seeing more and more kids with kwashiorkor.  We do our best to take those that are the worst cases, those that we think will not make it.  Please continue to pray for all the kids, staff and supply up keep for RHFH.  We will continue to do what we can with supplies we have here in Cazale.  We are so thankful to each of you that continue to support us here.  To God and only Him we give all the Glory!!!!
