We have had a rough few weeks with the kids in the Rescue Center. In the past 2 1/2 weeks we have lost 9 kids. In one day we lost three. It has been rough. It has been hard. We have cried. We have continued. We had one day we had a child on oxygen. Another child came through the gate and needed oxygen as well. We had to degaje (make due with what we had) with another machine. This machine was in the storage area and a rat got ahold of the cords and chewed through them. Frank quickly spliced cords together and go the machine running. It worked and kept the kids alive for that day. We want to thank each of you that have given to the special need for the ICU nannies. So far there has been $1820.96 given for this need. To meet the goal for 6 months we are lacking $5943.04. I really do not know what I would do without this special section for the kids that are so sick.
DIEUDSON
He is reported by his father to be 5 years old and weighs 13 pounds. He has a sister that was born after him. We are not sure of his exact age but he has a mouth full of teeth and can talk well. His dad tells us since birth he has been small and his younger sister has already passed him in size and weight. He is currently on the medika mamba program.
MAKELY
We will have a post soon about her accident. She is staying here to recover from her head injury as she lives about 7 hours away from the clinic, walking one-way.
FANISE
She is 20 months old and her weight here in this picture was 23 pounds 12 ounces. She currently weighs 17 pounds. Her legs had several holes in them and were leaking water from her kwashiorkor. She had a terrible fungal infection. She was very neglected and malnourished when admitted. She is recovering quickly with the medika mamba.
YOLANDINA
Her mother died last month in a hospital in Port. She was very ill after the birth of Yolandina. The father died last year in a motorcycle accident. There are 5 other siblings in the family. The oldest is 17 and wants to continue with her schooling. The local judge asked if we might find a place for her with us for awhile. She is 4 months old and weighs 7 pounds.
CTESONNE
He is 2 months old and weighs 5 pounds. His mother believe that she cannot produce breast milk. She has been feeding him baby food and sugar water since his birth. She is young and admits that she has no idea how to care for him. Someone told her that she had to tie a rag around the child’s head to close up his soft spot. She did this, and due to it being tied to tight he has several open sores on his head. He is a very sick little guy right now.
Please continue to pray for all the children in our care, our staff and us. We have been blessed by the extra hands, and help that the Garrett family has given us in the past few weeks they have been with us here at RHFH. They are staying with us for awhile until their house is completed and ready to move into. We know it has been hard for their family and friends for them to be so far away. But…I really believe they are right where God wants them to be. We are blessed to have them at RHFH. To God be all the Glory!

July 6, 2012 at 8:33 pmHello RHFH, After talking with Allison tonight on facebook, I realize that they are just where they need to be. I am so thankful that they are able to help Lori and Licia out with organizing the office and such. I am also glad that Brennon is a man of all trades. I think he is enjoying moving that mountain now that the big machinery is working. You are right, it is hard for the family. I should know I am Allison’s mom. But when I chat with her and hear all the things they have done that day……well I can only say I am happy for them and terribly proud of them all. So no more crying Lori, they are there cause God wanted them to be there and help in anyway that they can.
Although I miss them terribly, I am thankful that they are doing God’s work. And I am very happy that they are a blessing to you all and not a hinderance. I told Allison to give you a hug for me. So smile ladies and be happy. God is doing great things through each and everyone of you.
Sincerely, Susan Vantreese
