BUMP! BUMP! Full of rocks and ruts, Haiti’s bouncy roads are not for the weak. Heavy-duty is a requirement and even then the vehicles are under constant maintenance. Some city roads are paved, but it takes 40 minutes to drive the seven mile dirt road leading to the mission. We love the mountain people and their need is great. We’ve always trusted God to meet the needs and He’s used you to accomplish great change and inspire hope.
Ten years ago, supporters generously gave to purchase the truck in the photo above. It has done a FABULOUS job hauling people and supplies. It is a work horse and, thankfully, was exactly what we needed to keep up with all the hauling. God knew what He was doing in providing a new truck in 2009, because just months after purchasing it, the earthquake and cholera hit Haiti in 2010. Millions of dollars worth of supplies, food, and medications have been collected from all over Haiti and bought to Cazale for distribution to tens of thousands of people.
With plans of building soon, more transportation is needed. A Toyota pick-up (like the one above) and an enclosed truck/SUV would ensure that supplies, visitors, medications, staff, food, and patients can keep rolling up and down the rough mountain road. It’s a 1.5 hr drive to Port-au-Prince, the capital, where many offices, stores, and the airport are located. Though errands are grouped together to save time and gas, it is common to drive 4-5 trips a week. This is sure to increase when building begins and even more supplies are needed.
BEEP! BEEP! Would you help us stay on the road so we can keep serving the Haitian people? Please prayerfully consider a donation to the TRUCK FUND and your dollars will be matched up to $25,000 to buy two used vehicles. We love and appreciate all you do to support the work in Haiti.
