A Note of Gratitude

I want to take this opportunity to say how thankful all of us at Real Hope for Haiti are for your continued support. We know you love God, love the Haitian people, and love to help as God enables you. Your generosity is appreciated and received a reminder of its importance last week.

Our youngest daughter, Gretchen, had a spelling word that caught my eye last week.

Supportto hold something in place to keep it from falling.

That definition resonates with me and serves as a helpful reminder that those who support missionaries and missionary work are called supporters for a reason. Certainly, we believe that God is the one who called us to this holy work. We trust Christ to be the foundation of this ministry, the sustainer of our efforts, and the reason for its effectiveness. We also see clearly that God moves the hearts of His people to be full of compassion, thoughtfulness, and mercy to give sacrificially so that Real Hope for Haiti can share hope for this life and the life to come.

The author of Hebrews spends substantial time revealing Christ as greater than the prophets, angels, Moses and Melchizedek culminating in the final chapter discussing sacrifices that are pleasing to God and absolutely worth it because of the supremacy of Christ. Verse 16 says, “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”

In light of the definition of “support” I read last week, I thought it appropriate to take some time to acknowledge our gratefulness on the many sacrifices you, Real Hope for Haiti supporters, make to help hold our clinic, cholera treatment center, rescue center, foster care program, and entire ministry in place to keep it from falling. We are grateful God moves your hearts to give your time, energy, and resources in obedience to Him.

I will leave you with the benediction found  in that very same chapter of Hebrews, a prayer the Real Hope for Haiti staff is praying for you today.

“Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
