Emidson is 18 months old and weighted 11 pounds when he was admitted. His mom died when he was 3 months old. His dad is still alive, but no one has seen him since before Emidson was born. The family lives in a 1 room home made of block and tin. They do not have running water at their home or a flush toilet but do have an outhouse. They get their water from a pump that is about a 5 minute walk from their home. The family has gardens where they grow peanuts, beans, and corn. We began treatment with the F-75 Therapeutic milk and then graduated him to the medika mamba program.
Jalot came to the clinic with a wound on his foot. His aunt, who is caring for him said she thought it had been there since birth, but Jalot said he was walking fine and going to school last year. He lives in a home with his aunt, grandparents and several cousins.
Once the wound heals on his leg, he will need to have surgery to be able to walk again. With the country being bad the past few months he has been staying here to get daily dressing changes and good nutrition.
