We first met Luxandia when she was a baby. She was born with spina bifida. It was shortly after the earthquake and she was able to get surgery here in Haiti. She continued to follow in the clinic over the years. In 2017, she became terribly ill and was admitted to our inpatient care facility. She was admitted with a 106 temperature and a huge infection in her leg. She ended up having osteomyelitis in her leg and foot.
Since 2017, she has had 4 different surgeries to be able to clear up the infections. It has been a hard time for her and she does get discouraged at times. Daily dressing changes, hospital visits and shots are not fun, but for the most part she had kept a good attitude and is happy that she is finally healed.
We wanted to let those that have met her over the years know that she returned home with her family this past month. Sometimes the recovery is quick and sometimes it takes years. We are glad that she and her family were willing to stick with it and that so many of you supported her and encouraged her along the way. Thank you! To God be all the Glory!
