Dicreuse was brought to the clinic by his grandmother. His mom left him at her mom’s and has not been seen for several months. He has one other siblings at home. The family of 3 live in a 1 room home made of cinder block, cement, and a tin roof. They are farmers and grow bananas, tomatoes, and roots in their gardens. They do not have running water at their home or a flush toilet but do have an outhouse. He has been sick for several months but began developing signs of kwashiorkor 2 weeks ago. He also has a fever and diarrhea. They traveled 1 hour by motorcycle to arrive at the clinic. He was started on the F-75 therapeutic milk and then graduated to the medika mamba program.

She is 11 months old and weighs 4.7kg. Her weight for height is 4 standard deviations below the average for Haitian children. She has 2 living siblings at home and 2 that have died. Both that died had fever. The family of 5 lives in a 1 room home made of rocks, clay and covered with a tin roof. They get their water from a source that is about a 1 hour walk from their home. The family are farmers and grow corn and beans in bulk to resell for a profit. The family traveled 4 hours by foot and motorcycle to arrive at the clinic. She had diarrhea for several days before coming, along with a fever and cough. Her feet and hands were also swollen due to the beginning signs of kwashiorkor. Her mom stayed with her during treatment and we were able to spend time with her and help her learn many new things to better care for her daughter.
