They band together with others in their area in groups. These group go for weeks at a time sun up to sun down helping to cultivate the land for planting. They travel together from farm to farm to get each ones land ready for planting. Many times the wives takes turns to go to the area and cook for those working. Each person brings something for them to use to cook. Some will bring rice, some will bring oil or beans. Each family then plants their crops on their own time. It normally follow a pattern with the moon.
Everyone is happy when the gardens begin to grow and produce crops.
You will find most banana fields are grown near some type of water source.
Other that do not have large pieces of land will do smaller gardens near their home. Often times it is not enough to sell for a profit but helps to feed their family and friends.
Everyone is thankful when the rains falls and there is a good season of crops. It can sustain a family for many months.
