Cazale photos – market

This is the open air market in Cazale. There are two market days here in our village each week. The main day is on Tuesday and the other day is Friday.

Merchants travel from other villages and come to Cazale to sell their items. Many are hand-made. They travel by motorcycle, animals and foot at arrive at the clinic.

There are merchants that sell clothing of all kinds, new and old. The used clothing is often times purchased in huge bundles off of ships that bring them in. So the vendor never really knows what clothes they have until the open up the bundles to sell. Other vendors take apart plastic sacks and braid them together to make rope. You can also find hot cooked food, dry food like rice, beans, grains and corn to purchase. There are many vendors that sell fresh produce as well.
