In Cazale, it is common to wash their clothes at home or in the river nearby. After washing, they lay them out in the sun to dry for the day. Interestingly, many of the clothes come from other countries in large bundles as used clothing. The bundles are then purchased, opened, and sold. When you buy a bundle you do not know which type of clothing you will get. Some individuals choose to buy newly imported clothing as well.

In many communities, it’s common for people to have their clothes sewn by local seamstresses. As long as you have the necessary materials, you can have almost any type of clothing made to fit your preferences. For instance, it’s common for people to have a nice outfit made at the beginning of the year, which they wear throughout the year to church or other events. Similarly, many children wear school uniforms that are locally sewn to fit their specific size and style.

In our village, electricity is not available, so, most people utilize foot pedal machines for sewing. However, individuals who have electricity access opt for modern sewing machines instead.
