Staff Spotlight-Rose Nardine

My name is Rose Nardine, and I’m a part-time employee here at Real Hope for Haiti. I work with the children in the Rescue Center, and I’ve been doing this on and off since December of 2022.

You see, my family has been displaced because of gang activity in our area. We used to all live together, but now we stay with different people because there isn’t enough room for all of us in one house. Despite these challenges, I’m grateful for the opportunity to work here and make a difference in the lives of these children.

I’ve always had a love for children, even though I don’t have any of my own. When I finish my work, I enjoy playing with the kids and seeing them smile. The work itself has become easier over time, especially since I have all the materials I need to care for the children.

I remember when I first started working here, it was overwhelming. There were so many sick children, and I didn’t know if I could handle it. But with the help of my coworkers, I learned the many things and started to feel more confident. One day, one of the supervisors, told me she could see I was doing a good job. That meant a lot to me and motivated me to keep improving.

A typical day for me involves getting the children up in the morning, washing their faces, and giving them Mamba or milk. Then it’s time for playtime until breakfast is ready. After they eat, they get a bath and take a nap, followed by more playtime. We also make sure to give them snacks, change their diapers, and administer any medications they need throughout the day.

Working here has been a blessing for me, especially since my dad lost his job due to the gangs. It’s been tough, but being able to help my family financially has been a blessing. I’ve also grown to love the area of Cazale, even though it’s different from where I grew up. The people here have been so welcoming, which has made the transition easier.

Despite the challenges we face in Haiti, I remain hopeful for the future. My dream is to continue my education and become a doctor one day. I believe that with faith and perseverance, anything is possible. So, I ask for your prayers for Haiti, my family, and for my dreams to come true.
