Hello, I’m happy to share a bit about my role and life here at Real Hope for Haiti, where I’ve been working for over seven years. My daily duties at the Cholera Treatment Center (CTC) vary; I man the gate to greet and screen patients as they arrive, and when it’s quieter, I take care of the grounds.
I’m a father of four, living in the peaceful community of Cazale, a place that I love. Although I have lost my father, my mother is still with us, and I have the support of my two brothers and four sisters. Currently, I reside in a house owned by my sister, which keeps our family closely knit.
My workday involves cleaning specific areas, managing the entry and exit at the gate, and ensuring everyone who comes in is sprayed with a bleach solution to prevent the spread of cholera. If someone arrives who cannot walk, I help them into the observation area. It’s a job that enables me to provide for my family and occasionally help others in the community with small needs. I enjoy my work and am proud of the support I can offer my family, One thing I think would improve the work is for the CTC to have a motorcycle. The CTC is a good distance from the clinic. So this would help us to be able to get supplies back and forth faster.
Aside from my work, I am an active member of the local Catholic church, and I would appreciate your prayers for God’s protection and blessings for my family.
I believe that establishing a hospital in Cazale would significantly benefit our community. While the RHFH clinic provides excellent care, its capabilities are limited when it comes to severe illnesses or critical emergencies. Currently, residents facing serious health issues must travel outside the village to seek the necessary medical attention, which can be challenging and delay crucial treatment. A local hospital would greatly enhance our ability to address these urgent healthcare needs right here in Cazale.
