Throwback Thursday-Benches (GVADK)

In 2009, the Community Development Group in Cazale (GVADK) started a project to build benches in two areas for people to sit, talk, study, read their Bibles, or enjoy other books. The goal was to create spaces where the community could gather and spend time together. At that time a new road had just been built and these were areas that overlooked beautiful area in the Cazale area.

The whole community came together over several days to complete this project. We collected rocks and sand from the local river and bought additional supplies. All the work was done for free by people in the community, showing our strong sense of teamwork and dedication. During these workdays, everyone worked side by side, sharing the tasks and the satisfaction of completing them. It was a great example of what we can achieve when we work together.

Now, fifteen years later, three of these benches are still standing. They are a testament to the hard work and spirit of our community. These benches are still used by many people for sitting, relaxing, and spending time together. They are not just benches but symbols of our community’s strength and unity.

Looking back, we see how much this project has benefited us. The benches have provided a place for many conversations, study sessions, and moments of peace. They show the lasting impact of community projects. As we think about future projects, we know that by working together, we can continue to make positive changes in our community. The story of these benches reminds us of what we can achieve when we come together with a common goal.
