Back in 2009, we took a significant step forward in our mission to combat malnutrition by introducing Medika Mamba in our inpatient care facility for malnourished children. We began with a small pilot program, treating just 10 children to observe the effects and potential of this life-changing product. The results were nothing short of remarkable. Out of the 10 children, nine recovered and thrived, gaining weight and regaining their strength rapidly. Only one child did not survive, but the success of the remaining nine gave us immense hope and solidified our commitment to this approach.
This initial success marked the beginning of our relationship with Meds & Food for Kids (MFK), the organization behind Medika Mamba. Over the years, many of you have generously donated and raised funds to support the distribution of this vital product. MFK has also provided countless grants and free cases of Medika Mamba, helping us save countless lives. The impact of this partnership has been profound and far-reaching.
To date, we have treated 4,301 severely malnourished patients, 2,272 moderately malnourished patients, and 329 pregnant and breastfeeding women. This totals 6,902 lives that have been positively affected by Medika Mamba. Each of these numbers represents a life changed, a family given hope, and a future secured.
The journey has been filled with countless stories of recovery and resilience. Children who were once on the brink of starvation are now running, playing, and going to school. Mothers who were too weak to care for their children are now strong and nurturing. The ripple effect of these transformations extends beyond the individual to entire families and communities.
Our commitment to using Medika Mamba continues to grow. We have expanded our programs, trained more staff, and increased our outreach to ensure that no child or mother in need is left without help. The support from our community, both locally and globally, has been a cornerstone of this growth. Every donation, every fundraiser, and every grant has contributed to saving lives and building healthier futures.
Looking ahead, we are determined to continue this vital work. There are still many children and families in need, and we remain steadfast in our mission to reach them. We are exploring new ways to enhance our programs, improve our facilities, and expand our reach. The success we have seen so far fuels our desire to continue.
