Please pray for Darius

Darius, a 41-year-old man, was in his garden with his wife when he climbed an avocado tree to pick some for her to sell at the market. Unfortunately, a terrible accident occurred. Darius slipped from the tree and fell violently onto a large rock below. His wife, terrified by the fall, immediately feared the worst and began to cry, convinced that her husband had lost his life.

Hearing her cries of distress, the neighbors working in nearby gardens rushed over to help. They found Darius lying on the ground, severely injured. Knowing they needed to act quickly, one of the neighbors went to fetch an old door from his home. Using this makeshift stretcher, they began the difficult task of transporting Darius to the nearest clinic.

The journey to the clinic was anything but easy. Darius lives in Jean Rosse, a village located about a five hour walk to the clinic. The rough and poorly maintained roads made the journey even more challenging. At times, they had to lay Darius down to adjust his position on the door, ensuring he remained stable during the transport. After a long and grueling walk, a group of 22 people, accompanying Darius and his wife, finally arrived at the clinic, exhausted but determined to get him the help he needed.

In Haiti, receiving medical care is a significant challenge, especially in critical situations like this. Widespread insecurity, the closure of many hospitals, and the exodus of doctors make access to healthcare extremely difficult. In remote areas like Darius’s, reaching a clinic becomes nearly impossible.

Today, Darius is being cared for at the clinic, where we are providing him with the necessary treatment for a severe wound and serious head injury. We ask everyone to pray for his recovery, so he can regain his health and continue to take care of his family.
