The Real Hope for Haiti (RHFH) clinic in Cazale has come a long way since we first opened its doors in 2000. When we moved into a small, four-room house that year, we were starting fresh after leaving the local government clinic. Little did we know that this modest space would evolve into the thriving facility it is today, 24 years later.
Over time, there has been significant improvements to accommodate the growing number of patients and expand the range of services we offer. A second story to the clinic and six additional rooms around the sides have been added over the years. A new shelter area now provides a shaded spot where patients can wait comfortably. From humble beginnings, the clinic has now served over 170,000 individual patients, many of whom have trusted us with their care for years. The community’s reliance on the clinic has strengthened, and we are deeply honored to be part of their lives.
Along with physical growth, our services have expanded in significant ways. In addition to the outpatient care we initially provided, we now run an inpatient care facility for malnourished children and have established a 24/7 emergency room to handle urgent cases. Our outpatient program for malnourished children offers crucial ongoing care, while our infant formula program provides essential nutrition for babies who have lost their mothers. We’ve also developed a food box program that supports widows and others in need, ensuring that families receive monthly supplies of food. Furthermore, the addition of a laboratory for medical testing and a pharmacy has strengthened our ability to offer comprehensive care in Cazale.
As we reflect on the journey from 2000 to 2024, we feel immense gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of this region. Every step of this clinic’s growth has been driven by the needs of the community, and it is an honor to continue providing vital healthcare and nutrition services. We look forward to many more years of serving the Cazale community and beyond, supporting families, saving lives, and standing together with the people we serve.
