3 Decades of Hope: 3 Times the Impact – Clinic

Since 1995, when Gretchen Zachary first set up a one-room clinic in Titanyen, Real Hope for Haiti’s mission has been to provide essential medical care to underserved communities. In those early days, Gretchen focused on prenatal consultations and distributing vitamins to expectant mothers. Later, she began to see children under 5 years old. When we relocated to Cazale in 1998, the clinic was still a humble space, but the commitment to providing compassionate, life-saving care was already deeply rooted.

Over the years, with the help of dedicated staff and your unwavering support, this modest clinic has grown into a full-scale outpatient medical facility, serving over 180,000 patients to date. We’re able to provide emergency care 24/7, general consultations, wound care, and internal medicine. In addition, we’ve established a robust outpatient malnutrition program, a pharmacy, lab services, and comprehensive health education. When cholera struck, the Cholera Treatment Center treated over 14,000 cases and saving countless lives. And while we do all we can each day, the needs in our community continue to grow. Even while seeing around 125 patients daily, there are usually many more we are often able to see.

A unique part of our vision for the future is empowering young Haitians to serve their communities by training the next generation of healthcare providers. Through this initiative, we are sending local youth to university for training as doctors, nurses, and physical therapists with the hope that they’ll bring their skills and passion back to serve in Cazale. Investing in these future leaders not only strengthens the clinic’s impact but also builds lasting knowledge in the community and sustainability for the clinic.

Your support makes all of this possible. Each donation has an immediate impact on someone’s life, providing essential care in an area where medical resources are few and needs are immense. Thanks to you, thousands have received compassionate, quality care through the years, and we are able to continue treating and caring for the ill despite the many challenges we face.

As we look to the future, we count on your partnership to help us meet these growing needs and to ensure that no one who arrives at our gates has to leave without the care they desperately need. Together, we are not only treating illness but bringing hope and healing to Cazale’s most vulnerable.

Consider donating toward our year-end campaign – 3 Decades of Hope: 3 Times the Impact – where your donation could be tripled.
