Clinic Story-Bianca

Bianca is a six-year-old girl who grew up without her parents always around. Her mom and dad separated before she was born. A few years later, her mom moved to another country to find work. But this meant Bianca was left in a tough situation.

At first, she stayed with her mom’s family. Then her dad’s family took her in. But while living with them, Bianca got very sick.

Her mom’s family believed she was cursed and took her back, thinking they could heal her. Instead of getting better, Bianca’s condition worsened. Her body swelled, and she became very weak from malnutrition. Realizing she was not improving, they finally brought her to the clinic.

The doctors quickly saw how serious her condition was. Bianca had 2+ edema, a sign of severe malnutrition. She needed urgent care, so we kept her in the nutrition center. But her dad’s mother wanted to care for her at home and promised to follow all medical instructions.

To help Bianca recover, we put her in the Medika Mamba program, a special nutrition treatment. Every day, her grandmother brought her to the clinic for medicine and check-ups. After a week, we changed her visits to every three days to see how she was improving. She kept eating Medika Mamba, which helped her get stronger.

Little by little, Bianca started to heal. Her swelling went down, and she could talk and laugh again. Seeing her smile made everyone on the medical team so happy.

Now, Bianca comes to the clinic once a week for check-ups and more Medika Mamba to help her fully recover.

Her story is like many others. When parents leave to find work, children are often left in difficult situations. Some, like Bianca, get the help they need. But many others still suffer, waiting for care. Her journey shows how important family support and medical help are in giving children a better future.
