Davidson, a 15-year-old boy, has faced many struggles in his young life. After losing his mother and being abandoned by his father, he was raised by his loving grandmother. Davidson and his grandma both become very ill and sick, he became so weak he couldn’t walk.
Some family were visiting Davidson and his grandmother, they were shocked to see how sick they both were. The decided to bring them both to the clinic. But could only carry one at a time. Once they arrived we were even shocked at how bad he was. Many lab testing were done and he was severely anemic and tested positive for tuberculosis. He started tuberculosis treatment and received the medical care he needed. While at the center, Davidson suffered another heartbreaking loss—his grandmother passed away. This was devastating for him, as she had been his biggest source of love and support.
Despite everything, Davidson showed great strength. After six months of treatment, he fully recovered. When we tried to reunite him with his family in his hometown, they refused, no one knew where his dad was, and his mom and grandmother were both dead. We offered to support any family that might be willing to care for him but no one wanted to, they all had many struggles in their own lives.
In November 2023, we found a family willing to care for him. They provide him with love and care, and he also stays in touch with his biological family, including his godfather, who visits him often.
When Davidson arrived at the clinic in November 2022, he weighed only 35 pounds. Today, thanks to proper care and his foster family’s love, he is healthy and weighs 90 pounds. Davidson’s is a favorite with all the staff at the clinic.
