In rural Haiti, children’s creativity shines as they transform everyday discarded items into playful treasures. Without access to store-bought toys, kids in places like Cazale invent their own—turning old soda bottles, wires, tires, and plastic containers into cars, dolls, and kites.
One favorite creation is the ti machinn—a homemade toy car crafted from cans or plastic bottles, with bottle caps for wheels and sticks for steering.

These simple toys, built with care and imagination, bring immense joy. They’re more than playthings—they’re proof of resilience and resourcefulness in a place where joy is created, not bought.
