Stand with Cazale’s Volunteers for Growth

GVADK: Active Voluntary Group for the Development of Kazal

Founded in 2003 by a group of local women—and later joined by men—GVADK was created by the people of Cazale, for the people of Cazale. The idea was simple: neighbors volunteering their time, skills, and energy to help improve life in their own community. Over the years, the group has become a legally recognized organization and continues to focus on grassroots solutions to local needs.

What has GVADK accomplished in the community?
Thanks to support from generous donors, GVADK has led numerous initiatives, including:

  • Building tree nurseries, planting vetiver grass,
  • Constructing dry stone and earthbag walls to prevent erosion
  • Supplying school materials to students and schools
  • Building homes for families displaced by the 2008 hurricane
  • Repairing irrigation canals to improve farming conditions
  • Distributing seeds, tools, and goats to help families grow food and start livelihoods
  • Providing small business loans to local entrepreneurs
  • Tool, bean, and food distributions

Each project—whether environmental, educational, agricultural, or economic—was born from community-identified needs and carried out by volunteers who live and work in Cazale.

What’s next: A tree nursery for 2026
In 2026, GVADK hopes to launch a new tree nursery to support local reforestation and erosion control efforts. To make this possible, we need to raise $1,200. This funding will cover supplies like tools, sacks, and sand to create a thriving nursery filled with diverse tree species for the benefit of the entire community.

If you’ve supported GVADK in the past—through prayer, donations, or encouragement—thank you. We ask that you continue standing with us as we prepare for this new effort. Every gift, big or small, makes a lasting impact.
