Why Meat Matters at the Rescue Center
At the Rescue Center, every meal is part of the healing process. Many of the children we care for arrive severely malnourished. Their little bodies are weak, their reserves are gone, and their growth has been delayed. For them, food is not just nourishment—it’s medicine.
That’s why we are intentional about including a variety of nutrient-rich meats in their diet. Each type of meat brings something unique to their recovery:
🐟 Fish – Gentle on sensitive stomachs, fish provides high-quality protein and omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for brain development and heart health.
🥩 Beef – Rich in iron, beef helps fight anemia—one of the most common complications of malnutrition. It also provides zinc and B vitamins that strengthen the immune system.
🐐 Goat Meat – Lean but packed with minerals like iron and phosphorus, goat meat supports strong bones and healthy muscle growth.
🍗 Chicken – Tender and easy to digest, chicken offers complete proteins along with key vitamins and minerals, giving children much-needed energy for healthy weight gain.
These meals, carefully portioned and balanced, are more than food—they are building blocks for recovery. Bit by bit, they help children regain strength, improve immunity, and catch up on lost growth.
This is only possible because of the generosity of donors and partners who make it possible for us to purchase and prepare these foods. Thanks to that support, each child receives meals tailored to their needs—meals that bring energy, restore health, and return smiles.
At the Rescue Center, meat is an essential part of healing, hope, and a second chance at life.
