I’ve been working at Real Hope for Haiti since 2023 as a nurse in the Rescue Center. I live with my aunt, my child, my uncle, and a cousin—it’s my uncle’s home, and we all share the space together.
I’ve always loved caring for people who are ill, especially children. Before working in the Rescue Center, I worked in the clinic’s wound care area. I enjoyed seeing people heal, little by little, and it gave me a sense of satisfaction to know I had a part in their recovery.
In the Rescue Center, I work closely with the director and other staff to care for children who are severely malnourished or sick. Although I help with many tasks, my main focus is on the medical side of things. I take vital signs, provide wound care, give baths, administer medications and injections, start IVs, and help with feeding and general care.
The job has been a blessing in my life. It has helped me provide for my child and support my extended family. I love living in Cazale—it’s where I was born and raised—and I feel proud to be part of an organization that helps so many, especially vulnerable children. I believe that many of these kids wouldn’t survive without RHFH’s care.
If there’s one thing I could improve about my work environment, it would be having a better place to shower and change clothes after my shift. It would help all of us feel more refreshed after long days of hands-on care.
I am a Christian and attend the local Catholic church. If you think of me, I would be grateful for your prayers—for patience, love, good health, wisdom, and knowledge as I continue this important work.
