Staff Story

Today, we want to share the story of Silvicia, a 42-year-old woman, a small community about 30 minutes from our clinic in Cazale. She lives with her husband and one of their three children in a small two-room home, while her other two children stay with relatives who help care for them. A hardworking farmer, Silvicia does her best each day to provide for her family.

About five years ago, Silvicia was hospitalized with us due to severe malnutrition. With proper care, support, and her own determination, she recovered and was able to return home. After her recovery, she joined several clinic programs that helped her continue receiving regular consultations and support. As her health improved, she eventually graduated from these programs — stronger and more confident.

However, a few months ago, Silvicia returned to the clinic feeling weak and unwell. Our medical team readmitted her into the nutrition support program, where she received medication, food assistance, and close follow-up care. Slowly but surely, her strength returned, her weight increased, and her smile came back.

Today, Silvicia attends her monthly check-ups faithfully, receiving free consultations, medicine, and nutritional support. She is once again healthy, active, and deeply grateful for the care she’s received. She often says the clinic team has “brought light into her life” and taught her how to better care for herself and her family.

Silvicia’s story is a beautiful reminder of why this work matters. When patients stay committed to their treatment and trust the process, true healing happens. Lives are changed, hope is restored, and families are strengthened.

This November, as we reflect on gratitude, we give thanks for women like Silvicia — for their resilience, faith, and courage. And we give thanks for you, our generous supporters, who make these stories possible.

Because of your kindness, women across rural Haiti are regaining their health, hope, and dignity. 💛
