Toys play an important role in the healing and recovery of children in the Rescue Center. While medical treatment and proper nutrition are essential, play helps restore a sense of normalcy for children who have experienced illness, trauma, or separation from family. Through play, children can express emotions they may not yet have words for, reduce stress, and begin to feel safe again. Simple toys can bring comfort, joy, and moments of laughter during what is often a frightening and confusing time.

Beyond emotional healing, toys also support physical and developmental recovery. Puzzles, blocks, balls, and pretend-play items help children rebuild strength, coordination, and cognitive skills that may have been delayed by illness or malnutrition. Playing together also encourages social interaction, helping children connect with caregivers and other children as they heal. These moments of play remind them that they are children first—loved, valued, and worthy of joy—even in the midst of recovery.
