During Jacqueline’s pregnancy, her body became severely swollen. Although the swelling eventually went down, she later experienced a very difficult labor. Tragically, just six days after giving birth, her baby passed away.

After the loss of her child, Jacqueline’s legs began to swell again. The swelling became so severe that walking was extremely difficult.

In June, Jacqueline’s husband brought her to the clinic in Cazale. She received medical care and was scheduled for additional testing. When she returned, the swelling and discomfort had become so severe that she could not sit or stand comfortably. The medical team admitted her to the emergency room, where she was given a bed to rest.

While Jacqueline was resting, one of the clinic chaplains came to visit her. He greeted her warmly and began talking with her about her illness, the loss of her baby, and the difficult circumstances she had experienced.

As their conversation continued, the chaplain asked Jacqueline if she knew that Jesus loved her. She said that she did. When he asked whether she had made peace with God, Jacqueline answered honestly that she had not, although she believed that Jesus was alive.

The chaplain reminded her that serving God is not only about being physically able to attend church. It begins with the condition of a person’s heart and a willingness to trust God. He shared the words of Jesus from Matthew 11:28: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

The conversation deeply touched Jacqueline. After listening, she expressed her desire to give her life to Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Another chaplain joined them, and together they prayed with Jacqueline as she surrendered her life to Christ.

Jacqueline came to the clinic seeking medical care during a time of deep physical and emotional suffering. While there, she also found spiritual hope and made a decision that changed her life.
