Suzia was excited to welcome another child into her family. Throughout her pregnancy, she faithfully attended prenatal appointments at her local hospital, and each visit brought reassuring news that both she and her baby were healthy. After a normal delivery, she returned home to care for her newborn alongside her husband and children, looking forward to the future they were building together.
Just four months later, everything changed.
Suzia began experiencing severe shortness of breath, a persistent cough, and flu-like symptoms. Her body became swollen, leaving her exhausted and unable to care for her family as she once had. As her condition worsened, her husband’s family encouraged her to seek care at our clinic.
When Suzia arrived, our medical team immediately began a thorough evaluation. The results revealed a serious heart condition requiring urgent treatment. She was admitted to our inpatient unit, where she remained for eight days while receiving close monitoring and medications, including furosemide and enalapril, to reduce the fluid around her body and improve her heart function.
Because her illness had developed shortly after childbirth, our staff also asked that her infant be brought to the clinic for a complete medical evaluation. Thankfully, the baby was healthy, allowing the team to focus on helping Suzia recover.
Day by day, her condition improved. The swelling gradually disappeared, her breathing became easier, and she regained enough strength to return home. She was discharged with medications and scheduled for monthly follow-up visits to carefully monitor her heart condition.
Then, tragedy struck.
Only one day after returning home, Suzia’s husband was killed in a sudden accident. Overnight, she found herself grieving the loss of her life partner while facing the overwhelming responsibility of raising and providing for her children alone.
Despite her grief, Suzia was determined to move forward. After her husband’s funeral, she came to our clinic with a simple request: could we help her start a small business so she could support her family?
Our finance committee reviewed her situation and recognized both her tremendous need and her determination to rebuild her life. Through the generosity of our donors, we provided funds to start a small cooking oil business.
That investment became much more than financial assistance. It gave Suzia the opportunity to earn an income, care for her children, and regain a sense of stability during one of the most difficult seasons of her life.
Today, Suzia continues to attend her medical appointments, faithfully takes her medications, and works hard to provide for her family. Her story is one of perseverance, faith, and the life-changing impact of compassionate care.
Because of supporters like you, Suzia received not only the medical treatment that saved her life, but also the opportunity to rebuild it. Your generosity restored hope when it was needed most and reminded one courageous mother that she did not have to face life’s greatest challenges alone.
