A story about a recovered patient: Elisena

At 56 years old, Elisena has faced many challenges with strength and perseverance. A widow living alone, she has no steady source of income and very limited resources to meet her daily needs. When someone offers her a small job— weeding a garden, sweeping or helping with work on a farm—she accepts. These occasional jobs are her primary means of supporting herself.

Elisena also lives with high blood pressure and has faithfully attended medical appointments at our clinic. Over time, however, her nurse noticed that Elisena’s weight was not improving. She appeared increasingly tired and frail.

When the nurse asked about her situation, Elisena explained that her limited income made it difficult to obtain enough nutritious food. Recognizing her need, our team enrolled Elisena in a nutritional assistance program, providing her with monthly food support. We also continued to provide her blood pressure medication at no cost, helping her manage her condition.

Gradually, we began to see a difference. With regular medication and improved nutrition, Elisena’s weight increased and her strength and energy returned. The tiredness in her face began to fade, replaced by a smile.

Today, Elisena looks healthier and more confident. Her story reminds us that support does not always have to be complicated to make a meaningful difference. Sometimes, access to nutritious food and essential medication can help someone regain strength, health, and hope.

We are deeply grateful to the donors who make this kind of care possible. Because of your generosity, Elisena has support as she faces life’s challenges. Your compassion is helping restore health and dignity—one person, one family, and one story at a time.
