Every month, Lori has a specific teaching focus for the medical team in the clinic, a continuing education to keep knowledge and training up-to-date.  Sometimes, medically trained visitors give presentations to the clinic staff, depending on their areas of expertise.  August has been designated “Eye Month,” and I (Paul C.) have been asked to teach eye care along with a PA student, Hannah (anyone remember the birth of Jesula? http://www.realhopeforhaiti.org/?p=5060).  We have both been blessed to serve at Real Hope in the past, and we would love to be of further service to Lori and her staff in this way.

Real Hope for Haiti serves a rural community of people who otherwise would not have access to healthcare.  There are many in the community at risk for glaucoma, cataracts, and other eye issues that are very treatable.  With additional training and equipment, the clinic staff would be better able to care for these people.  Hannah and I are preparing several presentations on eye anatomy, types of exams, disease processes, and treatment guidelines.  We have researched the tools we will need and that would be appropriate for the clinic, and would love for you to get involved in meeting this need.
