Wilenka is 7 months old and weighs just 10 pounds.  Her mama was 19 years old when Wilenka was born and this was her 3rd child.  She died a few months after her birth.  Her papa said she was sick with fever for several weeks before she died.  After her death he tried to care for Wilenska but she just kept losing  weight.  The family of 4 lives in a 2 room home made of tin, rocks and cement.  They do not have running water at their home or a flush toilet, but do have an outhouse. They have to purchases the water they use at a place that is a 30 minute walk from their home.

Wilenka’s papa has been feeding her baby food and bread soup these past few months.  She has had diarrhea for over a month and is losing weight.  He does not have money to be able to purchase infant formula for her.  He also is unable to work due to taking care of her full time.  He is asking that we care for her until she is able to walk and is eating more regular foods.  He will be able to find work and then be able to feed the other 2 children that he is caring for. His average monthly income is $60US.
