CARLA

Carla was brought to the clinic by her mama.  She is an only child.  Soon after she was admitted her mama moved to the Dominican Republic and no one has heard from her since then.  We have actively searched for over a year for family members with local officials from her area.  Other family members have moved away and no one can be found for her.  She was placed in foster care 4 months ago with a local family here in Cazale.  She is doing wonderful and would like to start school this year.

REMILINE

Remiline has been in our center three times for inpatient treatment of malnutrition.  Her mama died when she was younger and her papa moved to the Dominican Republic to find work.  Her papa never returned.  She was left in the care of her grandma and grandpa.  Her grandma become ill last year and died while she was here with us.  Her grandpa is unable to walk very far from home and cannot travel.  Remiline return to his home and we did not hear from them for several months.  When we sent someone to check on her she was very sick again and so we readmitted her to the center.  After further discussion with her family they decided that foster care would be the best option for her at this time.  She has currently been in a foster home for 2 months and is doing great.  She would love to start school this year.  It will be her first year of school.
