Donley-surgery cost needed

UPDATE: Thank you this need has been met!

Donley came to the clinic with his grandma. Both of his parents have lived in Chile for the past 2 years. He has been to the clinic before when he was 12 days old and again at 1 & 2 months old. He has not been sick since that time and has not had to come for care at the clinic. At the beginning of June he began to have a fever and then began having a good amount of edema (swelling) in his legs and stomach. We asked that he spend the night with us so that we could better evaluate him and send him for testing and exams the next day.

He went for testing and was in a lot of pain and distress. A x-ray reviled that his heart and other organs were being pushed over by a pocket of fluid/or puss in his chest area. We made plans to transport him to Bernard Mevs hospital early the next morning. He was admitted that day and had a chest tube inserted in his side. It was draining large amounts of puss each day. He was in the hospital the first time for about 3 weeks. They removed the tube and sent him home after watching him at the hospital for a few days. When he return here he stayed with us for a few days and returned for his appointment at the hospital. They readmitted him that day and did another surgery. He had another tube inserted and stayed for another 2 weeks and then returned here. He has been back for a follow up appointment and is doing great. He returned home with his family this week. He is doing great and the family is very thankful to RHFH and Bernard Mevs Hospital for all that was done to save his life.

The total cost for Donley’s hospital stay and 2 surgeries is $2,800.00US. This includes all cost of medications, food, medical supplies, hospital bed per day, and actual surgery fees.
