Throw back Thursday~Henley

In Aug of 2002 a baby boy named Henley was born into the Betor family. He joined his older brother Carmelo and soon after his younger brother Trey arrived. Several years later a sister, Ameyah, joined the family. Henley was born here in Haiti and loves his country of birth. He speaks Creole fluently and has embraced living in the rural village of Cazale.

Henley was home schooled here in Cazale, first by his parents and then volunteers came to teach the children. We wanted him to have a good transition from rural life in Haiti to the USA. We decided to let Henley (as we did our oldest son) do their Senior year of High school in the States. We are hopeful that this will lessen the transition to college life in the fall of 2021. We want him to be prepared and ready, and we believe that he is getting there. He has been staying with a wonderful family in Indiana. They have opened their home over the years to many people and we are blessed that Henley was able to stay with them during his Senior year. He has learned many things, like doing laundry in a washing machine, where here our laundry is hand washed in the river. He has also learned to cook a few meals.

Today we wanted to share with you that he is graduating this June. We wanted to invite you to either come to his open house or send him a card of encouragement. He has plans to attend college/University in Indiana majoring in Business. He is still undecided on which school. He will be returning for the summer to Haiti and then going back to the USA with Trey (who will begin his Senior year) in the fall. He has been apart of the RHFH family for 18 years now and we are excited to see what the future holds for him. If you have any questions or would like me to pass a message onto him please email me at licia@realhopeforhaiti.org. Please see the card below for info on the open house location and address to send cards to. Thank you so much for loving Henley and our family.

Wow, did not realize that Trey would be leaving this fall. You will really have some adjusting as will Ameyah. God bless you as you adjust.
