*This post was prepared before the unfortunate death of our friend Andre. See below how you can help with the cost of his burial.

My name is Andre, but everyone calls me January. I used in work in the fields planting and harvesting crops, but that was a long time ago. I have been sick for many years and now am unable to work. I am not exactly sure how old I am but think it is around 89 years old. I never attended school and I never had any children. I do not have any family but have neighbors that help me.

My parents and siblings have all died. I do not have any family that lives near me. I do not have a home but my neighbors gave me a room to stay in. Many years ago I developed a ulcer on my leg. It was very bad. I went to a hospital and they told me I needed to get my leg amputated. I did not want to do that. I lived for many more years with my leg like this. Then it became infected and was full of maggots. It was a hard time for me. I still refused to have my leg amputated. But after I became worse I decided to do it. It was a sad day for me.

I have been receiving food boxes each month from RHFH . It has been a great help to me as I am older and unable to work. It makes me happy that I have friends and neighbors that help take care of me since I have no family.

What a joy it was for us to be able to know Andre. He died peacefully in his sleep this month. Again his neighbors stepped up and were able to take care for most of the cost for his burial. They came to see if we would be willing to help with the cost of the casket. The cost for his casket is $450us. Would you be willing to help with this cost for Andre?
