Each year on Sept 29th. there is a celebration in Cazale called “Fet St Michel” (St Michael). Several days before the 29th the activities pick up in Cazale. They are parties at night with singers and fun things for the kids to do in the evenings. Everyone dresses is their best clothes and visit family and friends. There are also many that travel in from other countries that are originally from Cazale to celebrate. On the day of the 29th there is a celebration of St. Michael the Archangel, at the local Catholic Church. You can read more about St Michael here.

Many vendors come to Cazale during the celebration to sell their goods.
In 1983, Pope John Paul II visited Haiti. He mentioned how the Polish contributed to the slave rebellion leading to Haiti’s independence. Several Haitian Poles were selected from the most populous Polish areas of Haiti by Duvalier to attend the various ceremonies planned for the Pope’s visit. To this day, many Polish Haitians still live in Haiti and are of mixed racial origin, as some have blonde hair, light eyes, and other European features. Most settled in Cazale, La Vallée-de-Jacmel, Fond-des-Blancs, La Baleine, Port-Salut and Saint-Jean-du-Sud. This is a moment that has recently been built to honor Pope John Paul II who visited Haiti.
