My name is J. Louicius. I am the mother of Tisine. I brought my son to the clinic 2014 and again in 2016 because he was swollen and full of water. The nurse put him in a program for outpatient malnutrition and he did not improve so he was admitted for inpatient care. After staying his second time, the clinic put him on a program to get a food box each month. Since that time he has remained healthy.
I live in a home that is my friend lets me use. It has 3 rooms and a small porch. We have an outside kitchen where we cook over an open fire. Tisine has 7 brothers and 2 sisters. I used to buy items in bulk and resell them in my village. I also helped harvest and sell the produce from the gardens. But now I stay at home and care for the children.
I do not have much time to do fun things in my area. Most of the time I am taking care of the children, cleaning or washing clothes int he river. But if I have a little time I like to go to the river and sit to cool off when it is hot. I feel like I am blessed because I always have something to keep me busy each day. I am thankful that I have enough food to feed my family. I enjoy my village and the area I live in because it is peaceful and quite. When things are peaceful it makes your life easier and you are happier.
Our village has 3 main schools. There are 7 churches in the area and 2 voudou temples. We are blessed because we have water near by. This is something that is a big thing for a village to have. It makes life easier for everyone. Our village has a lot of good soil to plant gardens. Many people plants grains, beans, roots, corn and sweet potatoes. There are also many trees that produce like mangos, oranges, coconuts and avocados.
Something that our area is known for is people of Polish decent. This makes our village have lighter skin people and those that have green, blue and grey eyes. When we see them we remember the past of our village. There are some parts in our village that are violent and people like to fight. Due to this our village has many that come to the clinic that are cut or need stitches. But where I live is peaceful. I am thankful that when there is a problem or emergency that everyone works together to help those in need.
