My name is Merline and I have been working at RHFH since 2012. I work in the ICU/Rescue Center with the malnourished children. This is what I do each day. I work 4 days a week and work 12 hour shifts. I switch back and forth between night shift and day shifts every 2 weeks. I will explain a day shift to you. I have a group of kids that I take care of each day. When I get to work I get the kids up and wash their faces and brush their teeth. Sometimes we take them outside in the sun for a bit. Those that eat medika mamba get their first feeding of the day. The food comes and we separate it into the bowls. Then the kids go outside to the feeding area. Some days I help feed the kids and some days I stay inside and make beds. Once the kids have ate we give everyone a bath. They they lay down and take a nap. After nap time we feed them mamba again. Then we have play time until lunch time. Then we give more mamba. Next is lunch time. After lunch it is bath time again and then naps. After naps they eat more mamba. After mamba it is play time. Then we have a snack. After snack time we have another activity. Throughout the day I am changing diapers, so many diapers. I hold the kids that are crying an console them. I help clean, I help talk to people. There is a lot to do each day but we keep busy. My works takes a lot of love and patience to do.
The work helps me with my family. I have 4 children and my mother is still alive and I help her. The work also helps me to help others in need. I like living in Cazale because it is where I was born and it has lots of water. It would be good if Cazale had a road, electricity and a professional school for people to learn.
I wanted to tell you a story about something that I will never forget in my work. There was a child named Jesula that came to the clinic. When I looked at her I considered that she was already dead, that is how sick she was. Even though she was this bad they admitted her. People were telling Licia to go ahead and send for a casket for her. But God came and gave her life. I will never forget this child. This is why when someone is sick they should go to the doctor right away. You see the doctor will do what they can, but it is God that gives life.
