In 1983, Pope John Paul II visited Cazale, Haiti. He mentioned how the Polish contributed to the slave rebellion leading to Haiti’s independence. Several years ago a man named Krzystof Szybinski came to Cazale from Poland. Over the years he has returned and developed long lasting relationship with the people in Cazale. He decided to help build a Memorial for Pope John Paul II in Cazale.

In May of 2022 the Memorial was dedicated with a ceremony in Cazale. You can watch a video about it here and meet Krzystof.
