My name is Paul, and I live with my daughter, Jesula, in Cazale. Our journey to this place has been long and filled with trials. We used to live in Bon Repos, but as the insecurity grew, I had no choice but to take my daughter and leave. We moved to Sources-Matelas, hoping for safety and a fresh start. Unfortunately, our time there was cut short when chaos erupted one day, forcing us to flee again, not knowing where we would end up. We followed others who were also escaping, and eventually, we found ourselves in Cazale.
When we arrived, the local authorities guided us to a refugee center where we could stay. The living conditions were tough. My daughter had to sleep on a thin cloth laid on the ground, and soon enough, her health began to suffer. She developed severe respiratory problems and often struggled to breathe. I watched helplessly as she fought for every breath, wrapping herself in a blanket to ease the constant chills that wracked her body.
But even in the midst of all this hardship, a light of hope appeared. We found out that there was a clinic nearby, and it changed everything for us. The medical staff saw how sick my daughter was and immediately made sure she was transferred to Saint-Marc Hospital, where she could get the care she so desperately needed. Financially, we were struggling; I couldn’t afford to go with her or pay for the treatments, but the clinic stepped in. They made sure she got to the hospital, and they even helped us cover the costs.
Every time she needed to go to Saint-Marc, the clinic made it possible. At the hospital, she received the medications that were necessary to save her life. Some of the meds were free, and for the ones that weren’t, the clinic made sure she got them. Slowly but surely, I started to see my daughter improve. She gained weight, her appetite came back, and most importantly, the coughing and the fevers that she had began to fade away.
I can’t express enough how grateful I am. To those who have supported us, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Since the day we were forced to leave our home and become refugees in Cazale, you have never abandoned us. You have been there for me and my daughter every step of the way.
My wife abandoned us when my daughter was only three months old, and since then, Jesula has been my whole world. Your kindness has brought us relief in ways I can’t describe. You’ve given my daughter the chance to be healthy again, and you’ve given me hope. Thank you for helping us, for believing in our ability to overcome, and for giving us the strength to rebuild our lives. Your support has truly made all the difference.
