3 Decades of Hope: 3 Times the Impact – Transformations

As RHFH celebrates 30 years of serving in Haiti, we’re reflecting on the transformative impact this mission has had on countless lives. Behind every year, every milestone, and every story of hope is a person whose life has been forever changed. Today, we share the stories of Yvrose, Deny, and Merina—three lives transformed through RHFH’s care and support.

When Yvrose was just six years old, a tragic accident left her body covered in severe burns. While lighting a lamp to cook, her clothes caught fire, leaving her arms scarred and immobile. Her family made the four-hour journey from their home to RHFH, where she received daily wound care. RHFH’s intervention didn’t stop there—they made surgery possible, restoring full mobility to her arms. Now at 31, Yvrose works at RHFH’s nutrition center, thriving because of the care she received so many years ago.

Deny’s story began with an abscess on his thigh that left him unable to walk. His mother, looking for help, carried him to RHFH on horseback. Upon arrival, Deny was so weak he couldn’t stand. The RHFH team welcomed him, providing years of medical care, daily bandaging, and nourishment. Today, Deny can not only walk but run miles at a time. RHFH gave him a second chance at life and continues to inspire his gratitude and determination.

For Merina, RHFH was a turning point during one of Haiti’s most devastating crises. After losing her mother at 13, Merina worked to support her siblings, even amid the chaos of the 2010 earthquake. When cholera struck Haiti, Merina found work at RHFH’s cholera treatment center. That job became a lifeline, allowing her to help her family and build a stable future. Today, she is married, raising her child, and caring for family—her story a testament to RHFH’s impact beyond just medical care.

These stories are just a few examples of the transformative change RHFH has brought to Haiti over the past three decades. From healing wounds and saving lives to empowering individuals and families, RHFH has been a beacon of hope for the people of Cazale.

As we look back, we also look forward—to more lives touched, more hope restored, and more communities strengthened.
