At Real Hope for Haiti, our team is made up of dedicated individuals who work tirelessly to serve the community. This month, we’re excited to introduce you to Jocelin, a valued member of our staff who plays a crucial role in keeping our clinic running smoothly.
Jocelin’s Role at RHFH
Jocelin is a guardian at the clinic, ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone on the premises. He started working with us on September 13, 2023, and has been a reliable and hardworking team member ever since. His days are filled with responsibilities like monitoring security, assisting visitors, and keeping things in order so that the clinic can function efficiently.
A Love for His Work
When asked what he enjoys most about his job, Jocelin shared that he loves everything about it because it allows him to serve his community. His work is more than just a job—it’s a way to help others and be part of something meaningful. While he finds great fulfillment in his role, Jocelin is always looking for ways to improve and make his work environment better.
Life Outside of Work
Jocelin was born in Kònoye, a small area in Delice. He now lives in Kazal (Fon Rigol) with his wife and their two children. He comes from a big family, with five brothers and one sister. Both his parents have died. Family is very important to him, and he enjoys spending time at home when he’s not working. His home (made of woven sticks, plastered with cement, and covered with tin) is a simple but functional space, with rooms for sleeping, a kitchen, and access to water. He shares his home with his wife and two children, as well as two additional family members. He is able to feed them and help others. This job helps his family survive.
A Memorable Experience
One of the moments Jocelin will never forget at RHFH is when a sick child arrived at the clinic. It was during lunch break that his parent said he needed to leave to get food but didn’t return. Everyone was very worried and tried to find the parent, but they were already gone. The staff helped care for him and told the village leaders what had happened. While speaking to others, there was a suspicion as to who the parent was and where they lived. As the child was being treated, RHFH sent a staff member to try to find the family. After a couple of trips, we did find the father (visually impaired) and an aunt (older, unable to take responsibility for the child). The child has recovered and there is a long-term plan in place for his care. Jocelin was so sad for the child, but relieved when his family was found.
A Message from Jocelin
Jocelin is grateful for the opportunity to serve at RHFH and hopes to continue making a positive impact. He is proud to work here and help however he can. He asks for prayers for strength, wisdom, and spiritual balance in his life.
Thank you, Jocelin, for your dedication and hard work! We are grateful for you and all you do for RHFH and the community.
