K.N lived in village with her two children but fled in fear of the insecrity. Many had left the area after the area was overtaken. She was scared they might come and harm her family as well. Like many others, she made the difficult decision to leave her home behind. She came to Cazale, a town she was somewhat familiar with—she had often visited the clinic and come to the open aire markets . However, she had no close connections or family to stay with. Like many refugees, she ended up in a camp.
At the camp, she and her children were placed in a small, leaky room with a latrine nearby. The conditions were terrible. Pests were a constant problem, and the smell from the latrine was overwhelming. When it rained, she and her children had to huddle in a dry corner and wait for the rain to stop before lying down to sleep. The situation weighed heavily on her, especially as a mother trying to protect her children.
Desperate for better living conditions, K.N. came to us and asked for help finding a safe place to live. With your support, we were able to help her rent a small home. She told us that the day she left the refugee camp felt like a moment of true pride and happiness. She no longer felt like an outsider. Having a home of her own gave her a sense of belonging in Cazale and brought her peace.
Now, she and her children sleep soundly at night and wake up without fear. With stability in her life, she was able to start a small business again—just like she had before becoming a refugee. Her business helps her support her family and rebuild her life.
She thanks everyone who made this possible. The home gave her not just shelter, but dignity, motivation, and a fresh start. It’s a new chapter for K.N. and her children—one filled with hope and opportunity.
