Words from Gretchen

Praise God! Hallelujah!

We are still standing, still breathing, and still praising Jesus! The devil is mad—and we are glad—because greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world!

Every single day, we thank God for the honor and privilege of sharing His love with the Haitian people. It brings joy to God’s heart when His more blessed children take the time to pray for and financially support His children in need. We praise God—and we thank you—for your obedience and partnership with us in this mission.

We continue to give out between 3,500 and 4,500 gallons of clean water daily. This past month, I drilled two wells off the property near the village of Minotree—one close to the rice company and one near the Baptist church. God blessed both wells with water! These new sources now serve families closer to their homes and help ease the demand for water on our main project site. We’ve just started drilling another well on our own property—please pray with us that God will break through the rock and bring forth precious water.

Exciting news: we are doubling our feeding programs! Last week, we began serving meals to 400 children in Titanyen and 130 in La Phito. We are still caring for 25 elderly people and have added 100 couples who now receive dry food on a bi-weekly basis. The need is overwhelming—but our God is faithful.

Just this week, a 4-year-old girl came to us—so thin, it was like holding a skeleton. Words cannot describe the heartbreak of looking into the eyes of a starving child. We’re not just reading about famine or seeing it on a screen—it’s standing right in front of us.

Our hearts are grieved as we witness the ongoing effects of the embargo. Emotions run deep—sympathy, compassion, anger, frustration. I’ve seen people boiling sticks to make a broth to feed their children… others surviving only on bread… many begging for food. I’ve seen the sick and the dying, families who can’t afford transport to a hospital, much less the cost of medication. And yet, I also see people who love God with all their hearts, praising Him in all circumstances. I see lost and broken souls, bound by darkness, desperate for an encounter with Jesus at their midnight hour.

Some of the worst moments of our lives have happened here—and also some of the most beautiful. And through it all, we thank God for every single one of them.

We are learning, day by day, what it truly means to take up our cross and follow Jesus. And what a precious privilege it is to serve Him.

Hallelujah! To God be all the glory.
